Monitoring – installing Inclinometers

Inclinometers can be installed to monitor the movement of unstable ground or structures by drilling a borehole vertically through masonry/subsoil and into sound rock at depth. The inclinometer access take is then assembled and placed into the borehole with keyways at North–South and East–West, it is then usually secured with grout. Each inclinometer is commissioned by taking 0.5m incremental readings from the base of the access tubeing and commparisons made in ascending stages during the monitoring period as required, depending on the level of movements observed.
